Painted Rocks for Mother’s Day! A Craft Kids and Adults Will Enjoy!

Another cute gift idea for Mom or Grandma (or the important motherly-figure in your life) is painted rocks. They are great to set on window sills as decoration, or to feature in a potted plant or even the garden!

Supplies:

  • Rocks
  • Acrylic paint
  • Paint brushes
  • Water to clean brushes
  • Plate for paint
  • Paper towels for clean up
  • A sealant or Mod Podge for outdoor rocks

In my home, any craft that involves paint is a hit.  For this craft, we found a couple smooth rocks in the yard, grabbed a couple of our favorite acrylic paint colors and headed outside. I let my daughter go at it and she had a blast.

Don't forget a smock - she's totally dipping her shirt in paint here...

Here are some other very beautiful painted rocks that I found online to give you an idea of how creative these rocks can get:

cute! when i was a kid we’d find pretty pictures from magazines and glue them to rocks and paint clear over them – i think i still have one in my basement somewhere!

I have always liked painted rocks. I have a bigger one with Minnie Mouse on. You can use any size rock you want. The kids can do their own to. I like the pictures of the ones you show here. thanks so much
