Start Your Morning Off Right with Cucumber, Kale, Apple and Carrot Juice *Recipe*

July 18, 2013 by Stephanie 17 Comments

Kale, Cucumber, Carrot and Apple Juice- MinnesotaFromScratch.wordpress.com

This morning I put together a new juice for breakfast and it turned out delicious.

Organic Ingredients:

  • 1/2 of a large cucumber
  • 1 apple
  • 1 carrot
  • 4 stalks of kale
  • 10 grapes (optional)

Kale, Cucumber, Carrot and Apple Juice - MinnesotaFromScratch.wordpress.com

I made the juice with just the first four ingredients and tasted it. Then I saw I had some cleaned grapes on the counter so I tossed those in as an afterthought. The grapes gave the juice some additional sweetness that it was lacking, but it definitely had good flavor before the grapes so they are not necessary.

Most of the juices I have made over the years were made with whatever ingredients at I had on hand. I cannot remember a time that I had a juice turn out bad. Please be comfortable with experimenting with your juicer!

Enjoy!

What is your favorite juice?

Take care, Stephanie

Sounds like it would be good! It’s too bad I don’t have a juicer, though!

I bought a juicer a couple years ago and I opted to get a inexpensive one off of amazon.com to see how I liked juicing. Once I decided it was something I would really keep doing, I bought a nicer juicer. The nicer ones definitely extract more juice from the produce. But I’d definitely recommend getting a “starter” juicer and giving it a try. No juice will ever taste as good as freshly made juice and no other juice will have as many nutrients either!

I have never juiced before, but I LOVE fruits and veggies…so maybe I need to invest in one. I think that the ingredients you used would be delicous!

DO IT! I get more energy from juicing in the morning than I do from drinking 2 mugs of coffee!

I actually don’t like cucumbers or carrots very much, but I’m wondering if I’ll like the combo as a drink.. gotta give this one a try!

A girl in my office drinks this every morning. She loves, but I just can’t get over how it looks.

This is a great juice! I use Granny Smith green apples. I have found that using green apples with the carrots balances the sweetness. Also, use the same amount of carrots to apples (I.e. 1 pound each- which is about 4 carrots and 2 apples). This morning, I enjoyed 1 pound carrot, 1 pound Granny Smith apple, 1 English cucumber and 2 cups of chopped kale. Cheers!
